Opal
Opal is the most colorful of all gems, and probably also the most fascinating. The phenomenon displayed by Opal (known as opalescence) consists of color play - color flashes that change with the angle at which the stone is viewed. The play of color may consist of large, individual flashes of color (schillers), or may be of tiny, dense flashes.
